Doug Birnie is the Founder and Managing Partner at Piedmont Wealth Advisory, an independent financial advisory firm. He is a gregarious engager, includer, and inviter to whom family and traditions are sacred. He believes in integrity, authenticity, and sincere empathy. 

Doug considered Morgan a second daughter and always enjoyed watching her compete on and off the field. This included a Thanksgiving Apple Pie bake-off between him and Morgan one year (she won) that has since become a yearly tradition in the Birnie household. 

He is passionately driven to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health by supporting Morgan’s Message and is an active volunteer leader and supporter of The First Tee of Greater Washington, D.C.

While Virginia is home for him and Mary — his wife of 30+ years — New England is “home,” and Cape Cod air is really what renews his soul. He’s casual and committed to continually perfecting chimichurri sauce, charcuterie boards, and Cape Cod lobsters. Doug and Mary have two children, Nick (28) and Meaghan (26).
